The Medium is the Message - Wayne Churcher (Sat & Sun 16 & 17 January 10am-4pm)
This two day course focuses on printmaking itself as being the source of content. By dilating the
materials and processes of printmaking, we are able to expand our awareness of our own practices
and create new doorways of creativity. And the way forward involves…play!
"The medium is the message" is a phrase coined by the Canadian communication thinker Marshall McLuhan proposing that a communication medium itself, not the messages it carries, should be the primary focus of study.
This class is more suited for those who have already attended a beginners class. While artists are
invited to work with their techniques of choice, Wayne will also be demonstrating and working with
polyester plate lithography.
The objective is to leave with strategies and methodologies that will give new directions, along with
a body of works.
Most materials needed are supplied.
