THE ORIGINAL HANDMADE PRINT - Tutor: Basia Smolnicki

It was the invention of the printing press in the 15th century that made mass production of the image and type possible. Using this traditional hands-on media technology today we can discover and experience traditional print techniques to create multiple and powerful graphic impressions made from ink transferred to paper by pressure. In this course students will explore different print processes, create stencil prints, woodcuts and etchings and experience the subtlety of application of ink and the effects of transparent and opaque colour printed on various papers. This course will provide individuals with enough experience and confidence to hire the print studio on their own or as a group. Basic materials supplied.
