 UNTUTORED PRINTMAKING

A class for those people interested in making prints with others of like mind. Inverlochy provides the print studio, the charm and ambiance of Inverlochy House, and various print sundries, while you only have to provide the inks, paper, and the inspiration. Students provide own materials. (No class Labour Day Oct 27, make-up is Dec 15).

  SCREENPRINTING OPEN STUDIO - Tutor: Bruce Mahalski                                  

If you've already done one of Inverlochy's screen-printing classes and want to take things to the next level then this is the course for you. All the darkroom facilities, emulsions and inks are laid on and you can come in and print fabric, or paper to your hearts content. This class is untutored but tuto Bruce Mahalski will be on hand to answer questions (or find inks). All basic materials provided. (No class Labour Day Oct 27, make-up is Dec 15).

THE ORIGINAL HANDMADE PRINT - Tutor: Basia Smolnicki                                               

It was the invention of the printing press in the 15th century that mnade mass production of the image and type possible. Using this traditional hands-on media technology today we can discover and experience traditional print techniques to create multiple and powerful graphic impressions made from ink transferred to paper by pressure. In this course students will explore different print processes, create stencil prints, woodcuts and etchings and experience the subtelty of application of ink and the effects of transparent and opaque colour printed on various papers. This course will provide individuals with enough experience and confidence to hire the print studio on their own or as a group. Basic materials supplied.

 SCREEN PRINTING ON FABRIC AND PAPER - Tutor: Bruce Mahalski

Whether you want to create a piece of fine art or just print your own t-shirts this course is for you. You will learn how to apply images to screens using a range of stencil and photo--emulsion techniques. This enables you to print your own photos and art on to paper, canvas, fabric and t-shirts. Bring along your own design ideas and Bruce will help you bring them to fruition. This course is suitable for beginners while experienced students will be extended. All basic materials will be provided but you will need to purchase screens from Bruce for $35 once classes have commenced (2 available per student).

HANDMADE GREETING CARDS FOR ALL SEASONS - Tutor: Basia Smolnicki                  NEW!                                            

Create a woodcut of your favourite image.Keep it bold and simple and enjoy printing many combinations of different colours with various papers. Some paper and basic materials provided, imagination to be encouraged and other gorgeous papers for printing on to be bought to class. All basic materials provided.

COMBINE FIGURE DRAWING AND DRY POINT ETCHING - Tutor: Basia Smolnicki        NEW!

This is an opportunity to draw directly from the life model by immediately scratching into the surface of a sheet of Perspex or soft polmer using a sharp point, needle, sandpaper, etc. The morning will be spent drawing/etching the figure in to a plate, and the afternoon making prints in the print studio. The prepared dry point surface will be linked up and the image transferred to paper through use of the printing press. All materials and life model sessions provided.

SCREENPRINTING FOR FABRIC AND PAPER - Tutor: Bruce Mahalski

Have you ever wanted to have a T-shirt, sweat-shirt, duvet cover or practically anything printed with your very own design? As well as teaching the basics of fabric printing using stencils and photo-emulsions, this course will help students create a fantastic piece of fabric art. So bring along your design ideas and I will help bring them to life! There are a wide range of designs available in the class to use if you want some help to get the creative juices flowing. This course is suitable for both beginners and more experienced people. All materials are provided but you will need to purchase a screen from Bruce for $35 in the class on the day.
