A class for those people interested in making prints with others of like mind. Inverlochy provides the print studio, the charm and ambiance of Inverlochy House, and various print sundries, while you only have to provide the inks, paper, and the inspiration.  ABC OF PAINTING - TOWARDS INDEPENDENCE - Tutor: Pippa Sanderson

During Term 4 we will work on student directed projects, making a series of work to hang in the end of year exhibition. We will continue to explore media and methods of painting, but more focused on each student’s particular needs. New students welcome – some painting experience necessary. All basic materials provided (you may have to purchase canvas, frames etc). NB This class is four hours per week. (No class Labour Day Oct 27, make-up is Dec 15). – First week (Oct 20) to be made up at a negotiated time with Pippa.

Have you always wanted to paint but feel you have no idea where to start? Have you tried painting but found your results disappointing? Don’t fear! With a focus on considered personal instruction, Christine will encourage and support you through a series of fun modules designed to give you the skills, confidence and momentum to paint on your own. Beginning with exercises in blending, brush handling, colour and observation, you will progress to dynamic still-life and landscape painting.  MAKING ART AT INVERLOCHY - Tutor: Basia Smolnicki                                                       NEW!

This is a beginner’s introduction to art. Spend the first two weeks drawing a figure model and then develop your sketches into a painting experimenting with acrylic and traditional oil paints. By this stage you will be able to take your ideas into the print studio and translate a drawing into a simple etching. The last two weeks will focus on creating the figure as a sculpture with clay to produce a three dimensional form. All basic materials provided. (No class Labour Day Oct 27, make-up is Dec 15).

  PHOTOGRAPHY: BLACK AND WHITE OPEN STUDIO - Tutor: Mark Marriot

Black and White Open Studio is an opportunity to extend what you have learnt in the Basic Black and White Photography course. Tuition will be available in the darkroom, or you can just come along and use the darkroom to print and process film, with Mark there to help address individual needs and answer your specific questions.  SCREENPRINTING OPEN STUDIO - Tutor: Bruce Mahalski       

If you’ve already done one of Inverlochy’s screen-printing classes and want to take things to the next level then this course is for you. All the darkroom facilities, emulsions and inks are laid on and you can come in and print fabric or paper to your hearts content. This class is untutored but tutor Bruce will be on hand to answer questions (or find inks). All basic materials provided. (No class Labour Day Oct 27, make-up is Dec 15).
