This life-drawing course will provide you with the basic strategies you need to draw the figure convincingly and expressively. You will learn how to capture the figure in quick sketches, how to approach sustained studies and develop the ability to draw what you see using a lively, sensitive line. Charcoal, pencil and paint will be explored. You will be able to take this toolbox of skills to further develop your life-drawing in both tutored and untutored classes. All basic materials and life models provided.

Continuing on from “On the Terps” the group will evolve a series of paintings exploring the pleasures and challenges of working with oil paints. Interiors, exteriors and figure painting will be the subject matter. A growing appreciation of both historical and contemporary Christine has planned a gallery visit and trip to a Wellington artist’s studio. All basic materials provided.

Experienced tutor Anthea Grob will ead you through a different pottery project every week, such as plates, vases, cups, platters and boxes, as well as help implement your own ideas and projects. You'll learn all the major handling techniques including pinch-potting, slab building, paper-clay, moulded work, coil-building, glazing and slip painting. This fun and relaxing class will suit beginners but willl challenge the more experienced potter. All basic materials provided.

Watercolour with its transparency and freshness lends itself to many different styles and techniques from very detailed to bold and free. Explore watercolour through wet-on-dry and wet-in-wet techniques and experience the control and looseness of the medium. We will be painting a variety of subjects including still life, figures, flowers, landscapes and townscapes. Weather permitting, some classes will be held outdoors.
