Welcome to Inverlochy Art School

Inverlochy Art School offers you a fabulous range of highest quality part time art classes taught by carefully selected practicing artists and artisans. We are an incorporated society and Registered Charity (Registered under the Charities Act 2005 - Number CC54321). We are based in the beautiful, grade 2 listed, historic Inverlochy House in central Wellington. The schools emphasis is on learning technique and mastering skills in each medium; very hands-on and experiential. Our courses are designed for all levels of ability and are taught in a friendly and informal environment. We have a maximum student limit for each course, giving you the best tutor/student ratio possible.


Upcoming Courses

Our day and evening courses are 8 weeks long, when there is a public holiday we usually make up the lost day at the end of the term meaning that there will be 8 classes over 9 weeks.

Jewellery Making - Beginners WEEKEND WORKSHOP

Tutor: Natalie Halley

If you are new to jewellery making, this workshop is for you! We will start with a simple project in copper to learn basic techniques such as sawing, filing, soldering and annealing. We will also explore a few simple and fun ways of texturing metal which can add a lot of interest to your work. You will then have time to create a piece of your own design in silver - be it a ring, a simple pendant or a pair of earrings.

All tools and materials will be provided. Fee also includes some Sterling Silver for one small project, additional silver can be purchased from the tutor.

Natalie Halley

Natalie Halley

Natalie is a jewellery artist with a background in science. She studied “Art & Creativity” at The Learning Connexion in Wellington and has been hooked on jewellery making since attending a weekend class in 2008. She has been teaching jewellery making since 2014, and also holds a certificate in adult education and training. Natalie particularly enjoys experimenting with various finishing techniques and kinetic (moving) jewellery, adding a playful aspect to her pieces.
