Welcome to Inverlochy Art School

Inverlochy Art School, in central Wellington, offers a range of high quality casual art classes taught by a friendly and welcoming community of enthusiastic and talented practicing artists.

We offer classes for beginners, and ongoing progressive classes for advanced practitioners in drawing, painting, printmaking, illustration and silk screening. Our classes are small and most fees include all materials (check individual classes for details). We have a maximum student limit for each course, giving you the best tutor/student ratio possible.

We also run open studios for groups of artists who wish to meet regularly, or you can use our specialist print studio if you have printmaking experience. Please enquire for further details.

At present we have paused our popular kids classes, but these will resume soon.

We are located in the atmospheric, grade II listed, historic Inverlochy House in the Te Aro district of Wellington.

Please feel free to invite friends to enrol for a course; any social media exposure and sharing course details would be much appreciated and will help Inverlochy run more courses in the future.

123 of Painting with Sarah Brock (Wednesday evenings 6.30pm - 8.30pm) T3A.20

Please note: Check the enrollment details carefully this is now a four week class.

This Wednesday evening course offers all the skills of Inverlochy’s ABC of Painting but in the evenings. The sessions are shorter so it takes a little more time to learn the all important basics of drawing and painting. The class is designed to run over four terms and ongoing attendance will provide the keen student with all the skills necessary to work in paints including acrylics & oils and various drawing media. Sarah also looks at styles, personalities and techniques unique to various genres and periods; for example the glazing techniques used in the Renaissance. All basic materials provided.

N.B. There is no obligation but this course is designed as a 4 term course and the second term will have content that follows on from the previous term for returning students. New students will start at the beginning if they join in a later term. The fees applicable are for each term and are payable each term, i.e. you do not need to pay for the whole year.
